Descriptive text is a text with a purpose to give information. Usually it describes a particular thing, place, animal and person in a detailed.
The purpose of a descriptive text is to inform the audience by describing the characteristics of a specific thing and what makes it special.
Generic Structure
The most common generic structure of descriptive text as follows:
1. General classification/identification
Identification is the first part of Descriptive Text located in the first paragraph. The function of Identification is to introduce things or objects that we want to describe to listeners or readers. Another function of Identification is telling listeners or readers that the object or thing we are describing is a special thing and different from the others. Identification is a paragraph that contains a little explanation about the object or thing we want to describe before we mention the properties or characteristics of the object or thing in the next paragraph.
2. Description
Description is the next part of descriptive text. This section is usually written in the second and subsequent paragraphs. The contents of the Description section are the properties or characteristics of the objects or things that we describe and are the continuation of the first part (Identification). The properties or characteristics of objects or things are special characteristics that are inherent in the objects or things that we describe and are not common things that can be found on every object similar to what we describe.
Language Features
Descriptive text has several language features as follow:
a. Focus on spesific participants
b. Using descriptive adjectives
c. Using action verbs
d. Using thinking and feeling verbs to express the author's opinion about the subject
e. Using the adverbials (adverb) to give additional information about behavior

1. Descriptive text of person
Lee Min Hoo
Lee Min Hoo is an actor from South Korean. He is tall, very handsome, he has a pointed nose, have nice smile, perfect body and short hair.
He is one of the most popular actor among the South Korean youth. He ever played in drama Boys Before Flowers, the Heirs, City Hunter, the Bittersweet and etc. He get many appreciation from his acting and his drama. Lee Min Hoo has many hobbies, such as watching movie, playing game and playing football.
2. Descriptive text of place
Kuta Brach
Kuta beach is beautiful beach in south of Bali. Position of this beach is on the Badung, 9km from Denpasar which is the capital of Bali. Kuta beach is the first city with good accomodation and become the first holiday place in Indonesia. This beach is known internationally with the long sandy, with a lot of bars and restaurant, and having a good sea for surfing.
This place is known as the best place to seeing the view of sunset in the evening. All people who come in Bali will feel very happy if they can watch this phanoramic sunset in this city. Many activities can do in the beach, such as sunbathe, surf, playing soccer beach, playing folleyball or just walk near the beach.

My favorite doll
I have a favorite doll. Aunty Sisca give it to me and I am very happy.
My teddy bear is very big and the colour is brown. It is about 150 centimeters tall. It is made of typical kind of fabric called rasfur. It has two ears which located on top of its head. The shape of the ear is half circle and the size is half of my palm. The colour of its eye is dark brown. It has a light brown ribbon encircling its neck. On the sole of each foot, there is a paw made of smooth fabric.
